Love Maple Syrup? 10 Reasons to visit Elmira, ON
1. Love maple syrup? This sweet stuff is derived from local sugar maple bushes, tapped locally, boiled locally, and baked locally in Elmira, Ontario. There will be plenty of syrup to purchase: and 4 different grades of syrup to consider – Golden, Amber, Dark or Very Dark. The darker the syrup the more robust the flavour. We prefer Amber for our pancakes and Dark for baking. We dropped by award-winning Snyder’s Acre Farm in Breslau on the weekend to stock up on Dark Syrup – yum!
2. Charitable contributions – 10% of all vendor sales, plus profits from pancake sales are donated to local community organizations and not-for-profits
3. Symbol of spring – maple syrup production has been a Canadian tradition since the late 1700s
4. Largest single-day maple syrup festival in the world (crowd expectations of 70 000+)

6. Large fluffy pancakes covered in golden maple syrup.

9. Toy show and sale from 4:30-9:30 pm Friday, March 31st at Lions Hall
10. Local crafts, collectibles, and beautiful handmade Mennonite quilts will be for sale from 7:00-9:00 pm Friday, March 31st and again from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 1st at Elmira District High School.
